20 Questions: Revived ("20Q") · Effective 2 November 2026
20Q is made by Haque Games Studio ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
- No accounts. We never ask for your email, phone number, real name, location, contacts or photos.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics or advertising tools, and we never sell your information.
- The game uses a nickname you choose, a random player ID created on your device, and what happens in your games.
- Your questions are answered by Google's Gemini AI, so their text is sent to Google for that purpose.
What we collect and why
- A random player ID. The first time you open 20Q it creates a random ID on your device. It isn't linked to your name, email or device identifiers. We use it to keep your leaderboard points together, avoid repeating secrets you've already played, and connect any feedback you send to your games.
- Your nickname and avatar. These are shown to other players in multiplayer rooms and on leaderboards. Please use a nickname rather than your full real name. In Junior mode, leaderboards only ever show the first word of the name.
- Your questions, guesses and results. Questions are sent to our server to be answered. We store results (whether you solved it, questions used, time taken, hints used and points) to run the daily challenge and leaderboards.
- Multiplayer rooms. The room code, the nicknames and avatars of the players in it, the questions asked, the answers given and the scores. Everyone in the room can see these. If you host a public room it is listed, with your nickname, so other players can join. Junior rooms are always private and can only be joined with the room code.
- Feedback you choose to send. Secret suggestions, reports of answers you think are wrong (the question, the answer and any comments) and bug reports. These are linked to your random player ID. Please don't include personal information in feedback.
- Technical data. Like any online service, our server and hosting providers receive your IP address when your device connects. We use it only to deliver the game and to protect it from abuse, such as limiting how fast requests can be sent.
- Crash reports (Android). If the Android app hits an error, it sends us a short report: the error message and where in the app's code it happened, the screen you were on, the app version, the Android version and the phone model. It never includes your nickname or player ID. We use these reports only to find and fix bugs, and keep them in our server's logs. The iPhone app does not send crash reports.
Your coins, stats, streaks, settings and "My Discoveries" are stored only on your device and are not sent to us. Iris's voice is generated on your device; the game never records audio or uses your microphone.
Who helps us run the game
- Supabase hosts the database for leaderboards, multiplayer rooms and feedback.
- Railway hosts our game server.
- Google (Gemini API) processes the text of each question, together with the secret and its reference facts, to produce a yes/no answer. Google handles this under the Gemini API terms.
We don't share your information with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Multiplayer rooms are deleted automatically about 24 hours after they are created.
- Leaderboard and daily challenge results are kept while the leaderboards run.
- Feedback is kept for as long as it helps us improve the game.
- Crash reports from the Android app are kept only in our server's logs, which our hosting provider deletes automatically within 90 days.
- Everything stored on your device is removed when you delete the app.
Children
20Q has a Junior mode designed for younger players. We don't ask for age or contact details, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Junior rooms are always private, and Junior leaderboards show first names only. If you're a parent or guardian and think your child has shared personal information with us, email us and we'll delete it.
Your choices and rights
- You can play under any nickname.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing us with your nickname and roughly when you played. We'll remove your leaderboard entries and anything else we can match to you.
- Depending on where you live (for example the UK, the EU or California) you may have further rights, such as objecting to how we use your data or complaining to a data protection authority. Email us and we'll help.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, so we keep what we collect to a minimum.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update this page and the effective date above.
